FCA Gaming Night: Creating a New Space for Faith and Fun
Where Gaming and Faith Intersect to Reach Today's Youth

Gospel Imperative
Meeting young people where they are with the message of Christ requires creativity and relevance. As 1 Corinthians 9:22 reminds us, "I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some."
A New Approach to Youth Ministry
The landscape of youth ministry is constantly changing, so finding innovative ways to connect with students is essential. Recently, I pioneered a fresh approach by partnering with a local Christian gaming venue to create an environment where gaming and faith naturally intersect.
The inaugural event brought together 30 students from across Northside ISD schools for an evening of fun, fellowship, and spiritual growth. From 5:00 to 10:00 PM, students enjoyed a variety of gaming options—from popular video games like Madden NFL and boxing to board games and ping-pong—all carefully curated to align with Christian values.
What makes this approach unique is its natural flow between entertainment and discipleship. Students played games for approximately 45 minutes before transitioning into a 45-minute Bible study led by the venue owner, Kevin, and his wife, a retired military chaplain. Following the teaching, students broke into boys' and girls' groups for deeper discussion about the challenges of high school life from a Christian perspective. And it was really neat to see when they broke up into groups, how the students gave feedback.
The beauty of this partnership lies in its simplicity. Unlike sports-centered events that require complex coordination, this setting allows students to engage naturally with activities they already enjoy while creating space for meaningful spiritual conversations. The Christian music playing throughout the venue took the atmosphere of faith and fun a step further.
With plans to host these gaming nights regularly, my hope is to expand participation by partnering with local churches and other ministries. The venue offers multiple possibilities for future events, including potential "coaches' date nights" and other community-building gatherings.
By supporting FCA's innovative approaches to ministry, you help create safe, engaging environments where today's youth can encounter Christ in relevant, meaningful ways.
